Me and my friend are planning to go to Cyprus for 6 months in Feburary of 2009 and just wondering will i need a visa or anything to stay in that country for that long?

Assuming that you hold a UK passport, you have the right to visit (indefinitely), live in and work in any of the other 26 EU member states, including Cyprus. Visas are not required, by UK passport holders, to enter any EU country.
