I am fortunate enough to be visiting Dusseldorf for a long weekend in mid December in order to see the Christmas markets. Has anyone got any good tips on what to see/where to go. Also, I am aware that it will be quite chilly in December can anyone tell me roughly what kind of temperatures/weather to expect? Many thanks in advance.

Hi Krusty, The weather is usually the same as it is here in december, Its in january when it gets really cold. I suggest layering for comfort. The christmas markets are wonderful, with sights and sounds and lovely smells. There are lots of different sites for these, where you will see lots of things of interest, plus hot gluwein and food. Try to go to the aldstat (old town) especially alongside the Rhine, where ships are lit at night, and there are lots of lovely cafes for a beer etc. You will find a very different atmophere to here, because christmas in germany is unique. Also it is a safe city, (no yobs). I spend most christmases over there, as my family live nearby. Enjoy your visit.
