//Mateusz Morawiecki [Poland’s Prime Minister/said a map shown in the series locates the death camps within modern-day Poland's borders.
This misrepresents Poland as being responsible for the death camps, when it was actually occupied by Germany in World War Two, Mr Morawiecki said. //

I’ve read this report and frankly I can’t really make sense of the complaint. The death camps are located within Poland’s borders. That Poland was occupied by Nazi Germany is surely a given?

Perhaps I’m missing something so if someone else would be kind enough to give this a glance I’d be grateful.

I haven't watched the programme yet - though i intend to - but, reading some of the comments to the link, it would appear that the Poles are unhappy that the map shown is not that of Poland during the war. Instead it is a map from 1985 but, as this particular map was the one shown at the trial, it is quite relevant to the programme, imho.

Did Netflix make it plain that Poland was German occupied at the time?

I know as much as you, danny but since it’s about ‘Nazi’ death camps I presume so. I don't have Netflix. I just happened upon this report.
You'd have to see the film . Perhaps it implicates some Poles in some of the Nazi atrocities.

dave, the complaint is that the death camps are portrayed as being located within Poland's borders... but they are. I really don't understand this at all.

Thank you, Ken. That's thrown some light on it I’ve just found a map of Poland during WWII and a couple of the camps were indeed outside its borders so that clears that up.

This is an interesting insight into the evolution of Polish territory over a few hundred years including prior and after the two world wars. The map at the top right corner changes year by year, at one time Poland virtually did not exist as such. Germany held many ports in modern Polish territory, Danzig and Gdansk are but two.

//From a nucleus between the Odra and Vistula rivers on the North European Plain, Poland has at its largest extent expanded as far as the Baltic, the Dnieper, the Black Sea and the Carpathians, while in periods of weakness it has shrunk drastically or even ceased to exist.[4]//

Retrocop, the country has experienced an incredibly unsettled history. It's been battered from all sides.
Certainly has Naomi. Battered into oblivion at one stage.
When you consider the reasons for Germany invading Czechoslovakia as well it's about reclaiming lost territory. Parts of Czechoslovakia were mainly German speaking when Germany invaded.

Danzig and Gdansk are the same place in different languages.
Lol. Thanks JD. To name but one then. :-) (or the other)
No desire to cause offence to our Polish allies but, the camps were where the camps were. If that's inside their present borders then that's inside their present borders. As for the map, it's accurate isn't it ? Assuming folk are too thick to understand is hardly a reason to object IMO. Some will watch for entertainment and not draw conclusions anyway, others more interested will either already realise the situation at the time, or will read up on it. It presently seems inappropriate indignation to me.
For a definitive answer maybe Answerbank should run a Pole.

I’m in two minds about that really, OG. Whereas Auschwitz was originally located in Germany, with shifting borders it’s now located in Poland with no mention of its original location. Should Poland be miffed? Hmmmm…… possibly.

Good idea, Douglas. I'll Czech it out. :o)
Clearly, the question of who had control in those areas is germane...
Danzig is Germane when Germany has it and Gdanks is Polish when they have it. That's the rub. :-(
Gdanks for that
