I keep hearing about this ... has anyone phoned Sky threatening to leave and they get offered a lower monthly price or a free new box or whatever to stay? I've been paying for the whole kit and caboodle for years and years and now feel like I'm missing out on something!!

It can vary.

Some do get offered a deal, or movies or sports at half price, that sort of thing.

Others are told "ok leave if you want"

It depends who you get I think.

I think ringing up threatening to leave may not work.

Maybe ringing up with a sob story "you cant afford the Sky payments, what can you do to help me" may be a better approach.
yes i phoned last week and was told they will take £8 a month off and give me a month free ,
I also had the full Sky package for years but last year I decided to dump them for Freesat not the Sky one the BBC ITV one. I was offered a year at half price which I declined. I have since had regular phone calls from Sky offering me a year at half price to go back to them but with the prospect of paying about £70 per month after twelve months I have not taken up their offer. When asked why I was ditching them I just said too expensive and all of a sudden they made me an offer I could refuse.
I too was paying the full package for Sky for years until we realised that we were actually paying for some progs we never watched & also coming to the conclusion that there are an awful lot of repeats so we have gone for Freesat & we are very pleased with it. We also had H/D multiroom in 2 rooms, I have kept 1 Sky H/D box & get Sky Freesat & replaced the other Sky H/D box with a Humax Freesat box so we can still use the hard drive facility. I cannot get over the fact that we were paying so much & now getting the H/D progs for free. Ron.
i havent heard of this as my dad was paying 72 pounds a month for sky and two multirooms they didnt offer us anything at all to help us
lisajade8. If your dad wants to do this he needs to give Sky 30 days notice of cancellation, then the multiroom Sky boxes will automatically receive Sky Freesat ( inc H/D) tell him to leave the Sky cards in the digiboxes (which will work for Sky Freesat until they need renewing he will get a message on screen when they need renewing --- £25 to Sky) The only downside is that the Sky+ facility will stop working
ie. you will lose the ability to record & playback progs from the Sky digiboxes. I have got round this by connecting my DVD recorder to the 1 H/D box, & buying a Humax+ digibox for the other room . Ron.
