Does anyone know if there's a good camcorder that you can upload to your pc, then edit the movie. Only I purchased one last year which wouldn't work on any software and hence had to be returned. I used to own a Mini DV camcorder but these are now obsolete.

Thanks

Dv is still fine. Import to PC with 1394 (Firewire) and edit with something like ULead, Pinnacle or Coral Videostudio. You can even capture by 1394 to Windows Movie Maker (if you really have to!)
Programs have to SUPPORT the HD standard tho, to work with imported HD content. Best software will generally be from the well-known names. Cheap software will always have 'issues'.
I can't imagine why you think MiniDV is obsolete. Canon still offer a assortment:

As do Sony, Samsung and others.
MiniDV is still a handy format for "semi-serious" users because the video is not compressed.

Thanks AlBags & rojash, I've always used Mini DV and 1394 Firewire. I find new HDD Camcorders don't use this function - USB instead and hence have a poorer quality and then you can't edit anything! I would like a HDD camcorder that uses the 1394 Firewire, any suggestions? Either that or I'll have to buy a new Mini. I've no problems with PC software. Thanks for your help.
