Hi Folks, I am looking to buy a camcorder but am at a bit of a loss as to which sort to get. I don't want to spend a fortune but it has to be half decent! I'm a little confused about DV, HDD, DVD and what they are capable of. Can anybody point me in the right direction please? I initially thought the DVD camcorder would be best as I what I really want is just snippets of my daughter growing up and I thought it may be ideal to record on DVD and put away filed under, 3months old, 6 months old etc. If I have to download through the PC I'll probably end up not having DVD copies. (Is it even possible with a DV camcorder to burn to a DVD from the PC?)

Hiya mats
We're almost back to the VHS/Beta days aren't we? I bought a Sony camcorder a few years ago, one that takes tapes and although it works perfectly if I were to buy one now I think I'd look into buying a digital one or one that takes mini-DVDs. I take a lot of pleasure from transferring them to DVDs but with the version I have, I have to use a capture card aqnd re-record the film onto the computer. I think with a digital one all I'd have to do would be to copy and paste the file. I'm not familiar with the DVD ones - but they sound even better. I assume they can be put into the computer, edited and then burned onto a normal size one. That one sounds good to me.
get a hdd camcorder no discs, tapes etc its the way to go i saved 200 quid wen i bought mine on ebay
