Please Buenchico.....can you help? I keep getting adverts appear on every web page I look at, they are not just along the top or down the side, but block some of what i want to read on the page, or they appear smack bang in the middle of the page ! They have no way of closing them at all, no 'x' to close it or anything, also random ads keep coming up on what I have searched for - i.e. if I happen to have looked for a frying pan, every web page i go to will now have pop up ads and banner displaying sodding frying pans ! ! How can i stop this ?? Thanks in advance...

Restart the computer and as soon as it switches on keep tapping F8, when you get a menu select safe mode with networking, when windows loads click on the link above, download the software, install, let it update and then run a full scan and remove all it finds.

...WINDOWS 7 ....lol, I have the pop-up blocker enabled....but nothing seems to make any difference, I have ran a good scan today....nothing has come up....
It sounds as if you've acquired some malware on your computer which is calling up those ads.

Download and run the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Hopefully that will fix the problem but I'd still recommend switching to Firefox:
http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/
and installing the Adblock Plus add-on:
https://addons.mozill...S/firefox/addon/1865/
(If you do so, when you're asked to select a subscription, choose 'easyList').

Chuck can obviously type faster than me!

At least we've basically recommended the same solution ;-)
What Antivirus are you using? .. because it's probably not very good!
AVG Free is hopeless at stopping this kind of stuff.

Chuck, I followed your instructions, but kept tapping F7 but didnt get anything from the menu that said 'safe mode with networking'....I followed Buenchico's thread and downloaded his link, but the scan came up with nothing infected....
Try F8, as instructed.
Question Author
I meant tapping F8!,,,I got a menu come up but nothing that indicated what you suggested.
Albags I have MSE....Microsoft Security Essentials....
OK .. Well that ought to be ok.
Can't you get to boot options then?
Question Author

Thanks to all for your help....at least I have nothing harmful in my pc.. , thanks again Chuck, Chris & Albags :)
As mentioned above, ensure you selected malwarebytes to run a fulls scan. The default is quick scan.

Also try start/run/msconfig. Select the startup tab and search on net for each ticked process. Untick if safe to do so.
