im just trying to catch up with things, am i correct that butch is suspended, and can that be indefinately, as opposed o being banned ?

I would imagine the suspension is such that his replies can still be read and not removed. I would imagine its for continuitys sake.

If Butch had been banned all of his questions and answers would have been 'disappeared'..........as it stands I think the permanent suspension leaves everything, but his ability to post, in place.

so genuine question - when does a suspension switch from being a 'cooling off' period to a permanent one (a ban really)?

I think it would depend upon what was said and who it was, Prudie.

I think if the posts are inoffensive and helpful I couldnt see the ed upping it to a ban, it wouldnt change anything other than remove posts which may be irritating to some people.

I think a ban is employed when there have been offensive remarks or a need to remove content from the site

Ok tht makes some sense - so the posts remain. I've noticed a few people have been suspended for over 3 months so presumably they are as good as gone (in those names :-))

yes i liked butch, he stood up for me once when i first returned, when abers thought (wrongly) id been banned and were a bit nasty,but hey ho........... i always found butch very funny and never to ott.

I miss him too, he was funny and I never saw him being offensive but I must have missed something

From what I can gather, it was a bit of an 'open secret' exactly who he was.......but someone took it into their head to broadcast it to a wider audience and this prompted the Ed to take action...............

but don't quite me on that.

I thought it had been claimed/alleged that butch's identity was linked to that of a well known banned former user, or did I misunderstand. Or maybe it's my memory playing tricks.
