My computer will not start due to boot problem. Using BIOS setup shows that the boot devices are disabled. It has always worked perfectly. Where do I go from here?

Thanks. BIOS setup shows that the useable deviced are disabled but I canno tind how to enable either of them.
It would help if you told us the manufacturer of the BIOS, which will be displyed when you first enter the setup. Typical names are AMI, Award, Phoenix, etc.

Also many BIOSs have a menu which offers "Default Settings" or similar, which should get you working again (it's usually a function key press).

BTW the BIOS is part of the computer hardware and has nothing to do with the Operating System.

Thank you. My son built a new computer for me which was excellent unitl it would not boot. He lives and works in France and is difficult to contact at times. However I was told where he had put the motherboard handbook which I now have so all the necesary information is available.
