Sky viewing card

When the TV has been on satellite channels for a while, we're getting a sudden loud low-pitched noise, the screen goes green and the set switches back to terrestrial. We then have to switch off and start again in order to get the satellite channel back. What might be causing this? Could the solution be as simple as removing and re-inserting the viewing card, or is it something more serious?
