hiya, what's a safe way to transfer money on line into my bank account?
i thought i could with pay pal, but that's only for buying things online

I regularly pay people just using the transfer button on my online bank.

PayPal can be used to send money to anyone with an email address. (No purchase is necessary).

Agree Chris, I have sent money to people via paypal, you don't need their bank details, only their email address. Where are you transferring it from ooh-la-la, is it from another account of yours, or someone else's?

It's coming from someone else's account into mine. I'm always worried that people can take money out if you give them your account details hence i don;t really give them out.

Did you never write a cheque out? The cheque has far more details about your account than the account number and sort code.

If you go to PayPal as suggested, then the sender doesn't know your account details. I never give mine to anyone unless I absolutely have to.

There's nothing secret about account numbers and sort codes. You can find them for firms and charities easily.

I'm completely thick when it comes to computers but use paypal to send money overseas. it really is so easy and all you need is the persons email address.
