hello, the easiest way it to go to carphonewarehouse and buy an unlocked one, cheapest one this a.m. (19th) 39.99. or buy one on e-bay, i just did nokia 3100 35, very easy. hope this helps.
A lot of mobile phones on sale are not tied to a specific network, but the more common phrase to use is "locked" or "unlocked." If you search the Mobile Phones category of ebay for "unlocked" you will no doubt find hundreds
You can buy them from most places that sell mobile phones. they are generally advertised as Handset only, or Sim free. But you will pay a lot more than if you buy one on contract.
Most o2 phones are not locked to their network (expect the ones the make themselves). It should be cheaper buying a handset with an o2 sim and just inserting whatever sim you like. Im not sure how compatible the are with '3' sim cards, but all others should work.
