I am a 41 yr old game man and would never dream of mentioning this to a group of strangers (face to face).
The gaming average age is creeping up and more and more people of my age group are openly 'game'.

Am I alone in not being able to mention my gameness at my age? Should I come out of the closet?
May be we should come up with some sort of pin that we wear to out ourselves to the right people.

Do you meet up with others who are 'game', in public conveniences, and play this?

im 35 and I like playing unreal tournament and dare I be cheesy enough to mention doom, doom2 and all the quakes :o
I'm the same age as you Matt and lets not forget; we're the age that were initiated in gaming. I've been hooked since putting that first 10p piece in the Space Invaders cabinet at the local chippy back in 1980.

My game of choice at the mo is BFBC2. I have only just bought it as I was waiting to get the 10002 kills cheevo on BFBC1 which I bought a year after release.

I always get the feeling that even online I am in the minority playing people wth GT's ending 1995 and suchlike!
I shouldnt be this addicted to gaming at my age but I cant help it! I should be doing DIY or gardening.
Thats my game of choice too at the moment, excellent game!
I wouldnt worry about the whole age thing, gaming is for anyone who can pick up pad and push the buttons. If you love gaming then keep on doing it , i do !

I'm 38 and i still enjoy it, grew up with it I guess, and it means me and my son have something in common..
I'm a lot older than you (about 33%) but I game, particularly multiplayer. As far as I'm concerned as long as you enjoy it, then play away!
Vibra
if you need a 'friend' on BFBC put in a friends request, my gamename is the same as here
SlackAlice

Vibrasphere, I was a massive BFMC fan and couldnt get on with BFBC1 at all at first but if you persevere with it it really does pay dividends long term. Likewise with BFBC2 it snowballs as the longer you play the more kit you unlock. What I really like about BFBC is the tactics eg making use of the squad system to provide strategic spawn positions and also how each kit can be used to help your team so its not just about killing ie medic can revive and heal, engineer can repair, recon can call mortar strikes and provide motion detection assault can deal out ammo.
You do need a good team to make fun tho as all too often you find people out for themselves providing a very one sided game.
Totally agree Matt, it works best as a squad based game but i still have a lot of fun when my mates arent on and i can then catch up with using classes and guns that i dont really use when in the squad.
Vibra, you have to get to know the maps and where the sneaky snipers are likely to hang out, you do get a brief replay of where the sniper was located but it can still be tricky to work out just exactly where they were plus they move about. It can be frustrating at first but im sure you would pick it up pretty quickly. What i like to do is go and stab-up the snipers, that gives me lots of pleasure!
Try renting it from Blockbuster for a week to see if it floats yer boat or not.
The only downside at the mo is there arent that many maps in Rush mode (which is my fav mode) but i do understand that there will be Map packs etc on the way.
Give it a whirl!

Depending on the industry you work in, acceptance of gaming as a pastime has always been common, or at least as long as gaming has been around.

Personally I can't bring myself to buy a dedicated game machine, but I enjoy the odd hour (or five) on the PC at a favourite game genre.
Im 45 and love playing my ps3, don't see it as a problem. Playing Just Cause 2, it's huge! not perfect but very addictive.
