ive a reasonably new laptop, less than 12 months old, on vista, and its all of a sudden started to run slow when trying to load pages or go to sites etc.
alot of the time the page im trying to go to shows as white and blank, so i have to press the refresh button to try and hurry things along, but still the blue loading bar takes an age to fill, if attall sometimes!
it doesnt happen all of the time but enough times for it to be noticeable and to become grrrrrry!
i never had this problem before until a few days ago.
my avg does a scan each night and the only results it comes up with is 0/7 spyware and i ran the malwarebytes anti-malware scan last night and that was fine.
any advice or help please?
thank you :o)

is it the same with different internet browsers?

hi bibblebub,
thanks for replying,
well i only use aol to browse etc so i dont know, and thats usually fine...
I had this a while back and was advised to turn off my router, leave it off for about 1 minute and then turn on again.

Worked a treat, hope it helps you.
Is it just browsing the internet which becomes slow or all uses of your laptop (opening folders/using other applications for example)?
Question Author
hi chickadee, i will give that a try too then! thanks

hi ttg, i think its just the browsing of the internet, ive not really noticed any problems elsewhere
Just to add to Chickadee's comments, you may need to re-set your router. This is a simple matter and involves pushing a straightened out paper clip into the Reset hole at the back of the router. Refer to your router instructions if you're unsure.
Clean up all temp folders, and temp internet files. If you haven't done before there may be thousands .. and loads of folders. This slows things down a lot.
That's a start .. Someone that knows should have mentioned this already!
Download and install free software called Advanced System Care from here:-

http://www.iobit.com/...edwindowscareper.html

Once you've installed it click the button in the centre "CARE". It will then rid your PC of all the junk, clean up your registry, defrag the hard drive and more besides. Be patient as when run for the first time it may take a while.

Question Author

Question Author
i forgot to add, since running that programme dodger recommended, the 0/7 spyware no longer comes up in the avg scan now, which is good - isnt it..?
