Have been sent a card to write for my mum's funeral flowers, and I can't think of a thing to put (other than a basic synopsis of what's ocurring in Corrie) (Which I think might be frowned upon by my siblings).. can anyone think of something adorable to put.. bearing in mind I have to post these cards off first thing in the morning... thank you if you can help!

Are you looking for the typical, "Forever in our thoughts" type thing?
Can't help I'm afraid but would be grateful if you could tell me the drill for sorting out funeral flowers as my own mother died during the night (and she is the one I would ask for advice about this).
Just write what you feel. Mention something that you will really miss (I have no doubt you will miss all of her, but there might be something personal between you two to which you could refer). This sort of thing is so personal, I wouldn't know what to say for someone else's mum.

My sympathies to you in your loss.

Not sure to be honest. I know my sisters will be all gushing.. and I don't want my card to say 'wotcha mum.. what's for tea..?'.. I thought a nice poem or verse... not to cliche tho!
sherrard, so sorry to hear your news. Consult your funeral directors, they are only too happy to help and advise.
Question Author
sorry Sher.. my sister's sorted it all out.. basically the funeral parlour (hideous word!) might recomend a florist they use.. and then that florist will show you outrageously expensive displays, we have to cough up and then they dish them out to local hospitals (well they used to.. think that might have changed)..
Thanks Boxtops - didn't know if you bought them where you lived and took them with you or ordered them where the funeral was (can't hold a conversation including the word 'funeral' without blubbing so a phone call wouldn't go so well) - I'll talk to my dad tomorrow.

lol -Barmaid - 'I miss you mum.. I especially miss your krispy cakes and scotch pancakes on a Sunday evening..'.. Hmm... not sure that will be met with reverence..
My mother loved fuschias - does it have to be a wreath or could it be a posh bouquet thing?
I would probably write something like, "I can't believe how much I am going to miss your....." and then take it from there.

Sorry to hear your news btw x x
You can do either sherrard - whatever feels right for you. If you have a favourite florist where you are, you might want to ask them to make an arrangement for you and take it with you - otherwise you usually pick from a book in Interflora style - with variations to suit you. You'll know what your mum liked - I wish you well, we're thinking of you.

Sher - if you know your mum liked Fushia's go for it.. we've got flowers from us (the children) and we've also got a posy from the grandchildren.. and they've all picked their favourite flower... Mine have chosen pink gerberas (which is ironically my favourite one.. humm.. hope they're not having a run through for my day!!)

Too cheesy..?

Gone yet not forgotten,
Although we are apart,
Your spirit lives within me,
Forever in my heart.
If you like those words you should use them - don't worry about what other people think. Hope you bearing up ok.

Hi Poodicat - hope mine is bigger than a calling card - I've got a husband and five kids names to include on mine (might get me off the hook of choosing what else to say though).
