Hi all, i've been trying all day to get my laptop to log onto my home wireless network..but no joy. I can log onto other unsecured networks around me, but not my own. I have a belkin wireless usb thingy, and a 4 way wireless router. The laptop can see the network sometimes but won't log in. The router is a safecom swbr-5400. Any help would be nice, but i'm no computer whizz, so the simplest and least technical answer would be best. Thanks in advance, Chris.

Your laptop, when searching for wireless internet, is actually detecting a wireless router and not an internet connection. If your internet cable is not properly connected to the router, you won't get wireless internet but your laptop will continue to show it as a possible connection for you. Check that the cable is properly connected to the router. Failing that, I find that switching the router off at the mains for a minute or two can often sort these sorts of problems out.
As can rebooting your laptop, checking that your filters are OK, etc. But I don't understand why a laptop that's detecting a network won't connect to it. What message are you getting when you try to connect? Did it connect OK before? We're missing some information here!

Don't your statement say it all? If it is transmitting intermittently you should concentrate on that end.
