Scanner Fault

I have a Canon 8000f scanner and when I scan a photo/document all I get is a blueish scan of the entire sheet. I have re-install the driver ,changed USB lead etc. to no avail. Anybody know what the problem could be? Is it just a case of scrapping it and getting a nother one? TIA
