Firefox location 3.5 bar privacy!!

I cannot get rid of the above programme, it appears everytime I try to open something. I looked at it when trying to solve my password problem (which it didn't!) and now I can't get rid of it. I've twice tried to reload Firefox and it still keeps appearing. I would like to download an earlier version of Firefox but don't know enough about how to get it or get rid of this version! Any help really will be appreciated.

Have you tried Tools/Options/Privacy and then changing the setting of the location bar (the settings are in a drop down list at the bottom of the Privacy screen) to Nothing ? The default is History and Bookmarks, but setting it to Nothing will stop the suggested sites and autocomplete list from being shown.
