why computer freezes if pdf adobe reader sign comes on screen

Do you know why my screen freezes when I need to print something from my screen, when it says pdf form and adobe reader. I have to switch off and start again tfor computer to work again, and cannot print it. All other things print ok, I cannot find the workings od adobe reader anywhere, on my last computer I had no trouble.
