I am 22, a size 14 and have a 32GG chest.  For years I have thought about a reduction and have always been discouraged, by my mother and boyfriend.  But they make me miserable.  I cant wear the clothes I would like without looking like a tart, I get the wrong kind of attention etc.

I'm unbelievably scared of going under the knife, anesthetic and the pain afterwards.  Has anyone been through this and what are their opinions..

I haven't been through this but a friend of mine has who said it was very painful for a week or so but she said it was well worth it! I have heard it is more painful than having a breast enlargement, but if it is something you want to do then I say go for it! You are obviously unhappy right now, so a week or so of soreness is not much to think about as it will change your whole life for the best!! Don't let anyone discourage you, it is entirely your decision.
I also had a friend who had a breast reduction, her were humoungous and she was sick of men oggling her for the wrong thing, she said it was painful but so worth it after she was a 32gg as well and is now a happy 32dd, she is so much happier as a person and much more confident i only wish i could have had that extra stuffing added to me lol...

Can't possibly comment on the social/physical aspects, but I saw this being carried out on the recent plastic surgery live programmes and it looks awful.  They have to basically cut the nipple out to remove the 'fat '(?) around it to reduce the mass, and then sew it all back together.  It all looked very unpleasant, but I think the woman was very happy with the result.

goodgirl - My friend's daughter had 'suffered' for years, from over large breasts. Two years ago she had a longed for breast reduction & has never looked back. She went from a 36G to a 36C. Her body is now in proportion & she has no back pain, etc. She now wears more fitted tops, rather than hiding herself under big baggy ones. Of course, she did suffer some post-op pain, but she expected this & put it down to 'the price you pay for needing/wanting this kind of operation'. I wish you well in whatever you decide - good luck.

My friend had it done and said that it was the best thing she has ever decided to do! It was painful and uncomfortable but well worth. I expect you have a miserable time in terms of back pain and limited waredrobe/activities due to your breast size - and a breast reduction would appear a worthwhile option as long as it is a carefully considered decision. However,  before considering drastic surgery, it may be worth considering losing some weight? (I don't know how tall you or in proportion of course so i am not making assumptions that you are overweight) It's just from personal experience, and having a sizeable chest myself, I lost weight by eating healthly and going to the gym and dropped two dress sizes (14 to a 10) and at least three cup sizes. My back went from a 40 to a 36 and my cup size from a E/F to a C/D. My bust is still larger than I would like but it is a lot more comfortable to live with! It was also amazing finding dresses that fitted at the bust without being tent like at the bottom and being able to wear tighter tops!

I have a cousin who had this done, and she had no regrets at all, she said, except that she should've had it done sooner!  That's all I know, and it isn't much, but this is just one more "vote" in favour of having it done.  Good luck!!!
