Hi everyone, I'm thinking of changing my old steam driven telly for one of these newfangled flat screen thingies but have become totally confused by all the optional bells and whistles that are available. Can anyone recommend ( through personal experience) a simple flat screen telly with built in ordinary freeview? Thanks everso in anticipation.

go to currys, comet etc - and look
read a what hi-fi so you have some idea

set a budget - and stick to it

telly is like slippers - it's got to fit you

just 'cause I like mine doesn't mean you'd like it
I really dont like pansaonic - neighbours on both sides have them though
Get the best you can for the amount you have budgetted.

I have had a Samsung plasma tv for nearly 3 years and not had a problem with it at all.

I would certainly recommend a well known brand as opposed to store brand.

Its all about what you like at the end of the day.

Have a look at above site to compare Brands/Sizes/Revues
and Prices linked to Retailers.
My own preference is LCD over Plasma but you are the one who should decide.

Thanks for your help folks, the more I read about the multifarious technical options the more I like my old radio. Perhaps i'm just an old dinosaur being left behind.
Go to your local library and read the Which reviews on flat screen TVs. They are always very helpful.
