I have just signed up to Sky Broadband. Does anyone else use this provider and if so what sort of service does it provide. Am worried that it may be inferior to the one I am already on and still have time to cancel if I wish. Advice please!

I've had it since Christmas and have never had a problem with it. We just use it for general surfing though, never downloading films or music so I can only make a judgement on that

Thank you chazza. I don't want to download movies or anything like that either. Was only worried that it may be much slower thatn what I've got. You've put my mind at ease. Very grateful.
Jst to re- iterate what has already been said, Sky is as reliable as any other isp.
Prevoiusly was on Wannado which became Orange and they put the prices up. Since we already had Sky satellite tv the 2Mbps service was free, so switched over to them 3 years ago and not had a problem since.
I think the main things to consider are

1 - Use, a bit of surfing and email 2Mbps will suffice, downloading feature films youtube vids and so on you will easily need more bandwidth and so be prepared to pay extra

2 - location - how far from the exchange you are determines the max speed you can get due to the limitaions of the wires BT use. Many pple pay for 8Mbps but get far less becuse of this.

Hope it all goes well.

Thanks ZXR I too was on Orange, (which was FSnet before). Sky will work out much cheaper for me with unlimited calls etc. I am going on the mid, 6 mgbs. I haven't really had much of a speed problem before and hope it will stay that way. I am happy to say that I haven't had all the problems someone else on here has had with communicating with Sky but have only just started the change over so fingers crossed. It is so hard to make the decision to change, whether it's broadband provider or anything else but I hope I've done the right thing and I thank you for your reassurance and advice. Nice to know I'm among friends.
