I've just jad my first machine screwed by Vists service pack 1 (beta)

just a warning to all the early birds - it's still in beta ... it will fail in some cases .... it will bu@@er up your machine
you will have to system restore
you will loose all your files if you don't do a backup

I cannot believe you don't do regular backups AC. What're you like!
Why did you put the beta version on then? The clue is in the name. I have the released version and it worked fine.

Not that the final release won't knacker some systems in some cases but don't put a beta version on then moan it's still in beta.
Also SP1 has been out since April 2008 so I don't think it's the early birds you need to warn.
Think AC must have meant service pack2 (which is in BETA)

I would also very much doubt that AC would install a beta service pack on a live machine which had anything that needed backing up on it.
I can't work out why Technology has suddenly been invaded by the chatterbankers. (Is that really a b?).
Huh... what me??

'y know my last brain cell seems to have given up the ghost .... 'course I meant sp2 .... chuff

lil 'n' ll... the machine was a job ... (actually a real piece of work!!) - not one of my own machines.

gob in gear ... let my foot slip off my clutch on reality and slip into my mouth!

had another call this morning ... another SP 2 install gone wrong (same floor, same department, same build, same surprise that it had gone wrong!!)

once one idiot jumps ... everyone else on the department goes over with them...
the second idiot downloaded if at home and brought it in on a usb stick so it can be passed round everyone! (we'd already killed the bownload on our filter)

by the time we got up there another idiot was "just having a go" to see if the same happened!!!!!!!!
And so it goes. Will they never learn?
