Which camera is best??

I love photography and im wanting to get a bit more serious with it!
i have a panasonic DMC-TZ3 already but i really want an digital SLR camera and i am not sure which SLR camera would be best for me being a beginner...so i would just like some pointers and some suggestions!! thanks

Depends on how much you want to spend and whether or not you want to keep the facility for video (which a lot of DSLRs don't have).

Consider the new Sonys and the usual Canon and Nikon. I think Panasonic now have some kind of 'hybrid'?

im not too bothered about the video feature because i will still have the digi that i have now

Make sure you read all the reviews (even buy a magazine - it could save you a lot of money). A Lot of people like the Canon EOS range but the new Sonys are getting quite good reviews.

but don't buy a "beginner's" camera - after a couple of weeks you won't be a beginner any more .... but your camera will still be a beginners camera!

spend as much as you can on the most feature rich one you can .... and learn to use it
