A pdf file is a protected format, ie one you cannot alter. The easiest way is to do a screen print of the picture and paste it into MS Paint. From there, you can save it as a jpg file.
Get your self open office

http://www.openoffice.org.

Install it, then install the PDF plugin for it.

http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/proj ect/pdfimport

That will then allow you to open PDF files, modify them if you want and then save as a JPEG (or several other formats)
You can open a .pdf file directly in Photoshop (on a Mac anyway).
I'd never actually checked before, but it seems you can in gimp too (the free alternative to photoshop)

Or if you do happen to have a mac
