it's debateable
it depends exactly what you expect to get from it - a quick fix or a more long-term solution.
on the desk or to carry round in your bag

either way you should think carefully about how big a one you can cope with.

I suppose once you've got one inside there is no easy way of turning back - at least you can still change your mind if it's still outside.
LOL

innuendosRus :)
I love my external one - I have several pcs so it is easy to transfer info from one to the other with an external hard drive; it goes in my safe, for safekeeping; I take it on holiday and access my files from other pcs.

Entirely depends on your needs

I think an external one may be easier to install.

Videos mainly, holidays etc.

An external hard disk is DEFINATELY easier to install, as all you need to do is plug it into a USB port.

To fit an internal one to a desktop PC you need to take the cover off and get invloved with cables etc. For a laptop it is impossible to fit a second hard drive except on a few laptops that do take 2 hard drives.

Note that an external harddrive is NOT any more safe or secure than a "normal" hard drive (perhpas even less so as it can be dropped or lost) so do make sure you back up important files to CD or DVD.
