hi, having never open laptop b4 i wonder if someone can help me pls. Firstly i plugged in transformer and after a few hours the light went out, is this normaly. Secondly, today i am going to actualy work on it, but i understand i need to do recovery disks firstand that if i do it on dvd +rw it will take up less disks. thirdly, should you leave the laptop charging all the time or should i remove the transformer after it is charged up,or do i leave it plugged in all the time. Thank you

I don't know about your laptop's transformer light. I would have thought it should stay on all the time it is connected to the mains but perhaps yours goes out when the battery's charged? I don't know.
I'm afraid I never made a recovery disc for my machine. Perhaps it's a good idea.
I leave mine plugged into the mains all the time when I can. Running on batteries will only last a couple of hours. (Depends on machine, batteries and usage.)
I leave mine plugged in all the time, too, except when I need to use it wirelessly - a few times a week. My understanding is you should use it from the laptop batteries for a couple of hours a week, to keep the battery in good condition.

It makes no difference whether you use r or rw disks. I would use R as there is no chance of them being overwritten and they are a more stable format.
Some lights go off ... some don't

for the first week or so ... it will do the battery good if you run it up and down a few times (it will tell you when it's time to plug in the power unit) - don't completely flatten it - that will damage the battery

after that ... it depends if you will ever run it from batteries (many don't) - it's best to do as ethel says ... but the new LiLon batteries are very tough ...

backup discs .... do it straight away (with the transformer plugged in)

Use CD-r or DVD-r for preference
but DVDrw or +r will be ok

make a couple of copies ... put them somewhere separate and safe .... if you need them it will be too late to make another copy.
