I have a Compaq Presario C700 and it does something extremely irritating when typing. I am a speedy typist and for some reason the typing will jump to wherever the cursor is hovering. So mid sentence it will jump to say a previous sentence and continue typing there so that it makes no sense at all. It has taken me a long time to type this because of the problem!!! Please help!

Try disabling the touchpad whilst you type.

Better still, join my campaign to have the stupid touch-pads ripped out of all laptops, and the inventor executed for crimes against humanity :-)
Rojash - I'd be lost without my touchpad.

I love it.
Ethel - Maybe I'm just to old; my favourite keyboard is a Dell 95 vintage that weighs more than my desk, and every time I get near a touchpad, I suddenly find that I've double-clicked everything, and the machines completely frozen.
I had the same problem with my C700. Press the small button at the top of the touchpad so that the icon turns from blue to red when you want to type and when you want to use the touchpad as normal press the button again (icon turns blue).

Thanks you for your assistance. Disabling the touch pad seems to work.
