I keep getting this message when attempting to open documents. What can I do to remedy this? Also pictures and solid blocks of colour don't appear clearly in my browser or on desktop. Are these two things related?

What kind of documents, and were they created on the same PC you're trying to open them on?
If you're trying to open Microsoft Works documents in another Microsoft Office application then you need something like this http://tinyurl.com/4hdzg

No, they were sent to me as attachments. Word documents and jpg files. Thanks.

Thanks, Tom. I can now open graphics in Word documents. It was all a bit hit and miss, mind you. My fault. jgg files still blurry. And then there's the problem with the browser and desktop which must be related.
Are they written in a different version of word? Sending documents in RTF normally a good bet, as just about anyone can handle them although you do lose some fairly useless features (animated text etc)
