I have a Virgin Media box which gives me digital TV. If I buy a DVD recorder with built in hard drive and digital decoder will I be able to watch one programme while I record another?

I take it you mean a virgin media cable box, in which case no... the VM cable box is the only thing that can decode the cable channels.

You'd be better off going for the virgin media plus box, which is like sky+ so it has a hard drive recorder built in
Nothing to stop you recording freeview down the arial (if you live in a freeview area) whilst watching Virgin. :)

Thank you both for your replies. My computer crashed 2 minutes after posting this and I've just got back to working status. Unfortunately I can't afford to buy a DVD recorder now as I need a new computer.
Thanks again
