I was using SKY broadband. When I had it connected they sent me 2 wireless boxes instead of 1. I used one and kept the other in its box in the cupboard, just incase they realised their mistake and asked for it back. What I want to know is, my other half is on Virgin broadband but does not have a wireless connection. Could he use the other wireless box I had, or because SKY sent it out, will it be programmed to be used with SKY broadband? Many thanks. Daffi x

I don't think you'd be able to use it with Virgin broadband as SKY broadband goes through an ASDL line whereas with Virgin you need a wireless router as it is cable - not a wireless modem. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong......

Thanks, MissTrery. I haven't got a clue when it comes to computers! x
Misstrery is right virgin is cable and with sky you normally have a bt line and the sky router does not work with cable.
Although Virgin does not ADSL broadband nowadays, for those not in a cable area.

If it is a cable broadband it won't work.
If you are non-cable then it probably still wont work as most Sky wireless routers are hard-coded with connection details to the Sky broadband service. I had this issue when I moved to Sky but wanted to keep using my Netgear DG834 router as it looks and feels better than the supplied Sky one but Sky would not provide the connection details only the log in to the router.
