I think they look nice with any modern decor. I had a couple of cacti but sadly I killed them off by accident. I'm useless with plants!
Hi, Abdulmajiid, firstly can you explain what is meant by "modern aesthetic decor" as I am not "up" on that sort of thing.Cactii can look good any where, minimalistic milieu I feel lends itself to the use of large cactus specimens( the size of room will govern the shape of the plant).A "busier" room calls for groups of smaller cactii in several places, in exposed positions so they can be seen and admired otherwise there is no point having them.
Tiggerblue if it was an accident there is still hope for you . Cactii must be the easiest and most tolerant of plants to look after, and a good one to start with.
I love cacti -I bought my mum 6 minis which flower one of the last times in Spain. She planted them out in a beautiful large dish with sand and pebbles and they are honesly quite stunning.

We have a few on our patio in Spain -had to get low maintenance as we cant get out as much as we would like.

In answer to your Q -yes I believe cacti would be ideal aesthitically especially with modern decor. They have a 'je ne sais quoi' about them and even their shape alone would lend them to a 'modern' decor.

nonomaybe.

By MAD I mean non-chinztified. Not necessiarly minimalist, but just modern.

That is neutral colours and light wood as opposed to velvet wallpaper and deep mahogonies.

Hope this explains what I mean.

As it happens I am having a re-vamp but I am more the clutter type.I wish i could do minimalistic but I am such a big sop -I love all my family pics and things we have brought back from a happy hol or something the kids have bought.
In spite of myself I cant bring myself to be ruthless with those things -I am so sentimental you would believe it -even have the umbilical cords secreted away somewhere.

Anyway -back to your dilemna -I wouldnt ever go chintzy - but me careful about 'modern' because that means next year it will be passe (sorry couldnt remember how do do an 'acute) I prefer up to date but homely -I wouldnt want to walk every night into a show house -needs your own touch.Cacti woulkd be fine -low maintenance.
Funny Roaldo -we are busy gutting a flat my daughter bought and subsequenly have been looking at the bigger picture (19yrs old pah -not even near decor yet -lol) -however the shops are full of velvet and very rich colours -think I must have missed a 'vogue' somewhere along the lines.
Im now struggling after this with the colours I had piucked for my living room re vamp -are they yesterdays colours ??? -lol

Go neutral.

All these rich colours are very Lawrence Lllllweeeyyynnnwyn-Bowen. In otherwords, a little camp.

Whatever next? The re-introduction of Lavender pot-pourries and corner bars in your living room?

I know what you mean Wardy -think i shall just go with my gut insticts neutral is maybe too much of a surefire bet tho -we all need a bit of colour in our lives so i'm going for Magnolia with White and wait for it -'a touch of barley'

I do style big stylee -moi !!!
Roaldo -my daugher is brown cream and turquoise in the lounge -wall paper on one wall-and turqoiuse and aubergine with cream walls -wallpaper just on one wall -its the riguer- in the boudoir -honestly get her -bet it looks fab tho,
Kitchen is more subtle teal units with medium oak worktop and floors.

Tell ya -her gaff is gonna be way better than mine -I cant get mine done for hers -lol Well thats what a mums for eh?

Aww right -im late forties and dont -lol

So looks like you have the finger on the pulse as far as 'colours' are concerned.

What do you think of this the -seriously -I have a deep blue suite with a carpet to match -ATM i have lilac walls aubergine on the coving and on the radiaters, ingosand the uderside of the archway -pale pink.
I dont want to lose the suite and carpet cos although blue is only the col;our if youre Chelsea or Rangers I like it -I was going to go with a rich gold on the walls and a rich cream on the rest of the bits -what do you think?l
OOHHER! Are you married R?
lol at pips -I bagged him first xx

Sorry about all the typos today -its really not like me unless I have inbibed -I have tried moving the keyboard around -i'm currently trying again -to no avail.

Guess my fingers are just doing the walking today -lol

I had to correct 4 typos there -is it possible that you can type too quick for your brain to keep up with? (yip clutching at straws -BTW that is now 6 typos -make that 7 cos i spelt typos wrong -aaaarrrgggghhh!!!!)
