How can I lift sounds ether wav's or mp3's from a dvd on my pc? I have a dvd player installed and various software but I cant seem to workout how to do it. I know it can me done cos a bloke I used to work with did it. However hes not around to ask now!!!

There are a progs which do this - from memory (I've not used them in a while) "smart ripper" is one (possibly all one word). Try google. Have you searched google so far?
For any video/DVD computery questions at all, the following site is incredibly helpful: http://www.videohelp.com/ From there I found: http://www.mp3-guides.com/guides.php?name=dvdtoaudio which should fit the bill. If only I wasn't half asleep when I posted the 1st answer!
Another way is just record the audio using a wav editor such as supplied with nero. Set the record source to the audio output your DVD is playing through. I've tried this in the past, recording levels are a bit hit/miss you have to experiment!
