desktop display frozen

my desktop display on my display properties has frozen.
i can see autumn,azuli,etc but cant scroll down as it is frozen,can anyone help

Not sure I follow old bean

when you look at the "background" pane on Desktop ....

do you have the scroll bar/buttons at the right?
can you hitight the options you can see?
can you use the up/down arrows to move the hilight
do you have more backgrounds than are shown in the window ?
does the browse button work?
can you close the display properties?
