installed xp over vista and now my modem is not recognised?

i installed xp over vista (vista stuff is still there i think)
but now the laptop acts like i have no modem installed at all.
i cannot install drivers as there is no info of the modem available.
i cannot download driver - because no internet.

what can i do ?

Decide which you want to use.
Remove both and reinstall the program of your choice.
I have never tried this with Vista, but it used to be that you couldn't install an older Windows version over a later one on the same drive.

I also suggest what society advocates.
