we brought a brand new dvd from whsmiths recently, when we put it into our dvd player it said "wrong type of disc" then ejected itself.

now when we put any disc in it immediately rejects it and wont let us play any.

does anyone have any ideas? as we dont really want to fork out for another dvd player!

Try this:

* switch it on

* press and hold the power button for 5 seconds - this should switch the machine off

* press the power button again, to switch it back on

* pull the plug out, wait for 5 seconds, then plug it back in

This is from my own DVD's instruction manual - hopefully it might work for yours too
will the disc play on another machine,they can be faulty
Check the "regions" for your DVD player...and for your DVDs. Did you buy them locally, or abroad?
You would have rights in law if the player itself is faulty. Have you retained receipt?
