File location:
C:\\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

Chris
I don't think that will work Chris as the path is incorrect and the template is hidden. Try this instead:

If you are using Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista keh, you will need to enable the Show hidden files and folders option thus:

a. On the desktop, double-click on My Computer

b. Click on the Tools menu option

c. Click on Folder Options, this will open up the Folder Options window

d. Click on the tab labeled View

e. In the Advanced Settings window, scroll down until you see the option named Show hidden files and folders and select it. Ignore any warning messages.

f. Click on OK to finish

Now you can locate the normal dot template by using the path;

C:/ Documents and Settings/<Username>/Application Data / Microsoft/Templates

Either delete the template contents if it contains characters or text or delete the template itself. Word will create a new one the next time around.

Don't forget to return to folder options window after you've done the job to restore the default settings to hide files and folders.
