I have always had a Freeserve email address. I have always sent email via outlook express, but lately my outlook will only download my emails and not send any.

I can look into my freeserve address via the orange website and i can send and receive emails fine, if I do it on the web based email window, but when I try and send any email from my freeserve in outlook, it does not work. THe same happens with my partners wanadoo email address. I also have a btinternet email address which works perfectly on my outlook.

I have win XP running outlook express 6. Could it by my smtp or pop settings???

The smtp server settings need changing to those of your internet service provider (BT ?)
Now that Freeserve/Wanadoo are part of Orange the SMTP server should be set as smtp.orangehome.co.uk and POP as pop.orangehome.co.uk.

What are your current settings?

pop.freeserve.co.uk
smtp.freeserve.co.uk

but it can download email but not send them, why is this?
Who is your current ISP ?
Question Author
BT Broadband
As I thought. You need to insert BT's smtp details in order to SEND messages but leave all other details unchanged.

When you leave an ISP for another, this often happens, ie you cannot use the former ISP's smtp settings to send but often they will allow messages to be received, using your old email details.
