Pink screen!

We recently sold our old pc (which was working fine, but we have recently bought a new one with bigger GB) to a family member. It was transported carefully and, as far as I know, has been connected up properly. However, they have phoned us to say that everything is working but what should be white on the screen, is pink. I have asked her to check all cables are connected correctly. Is there anything else they can do to rectify the problem? Thank you.

Are they using the same monitor that you were? If not, the PC may not recognise the new one properly. The solution is to run windows in safe mode (By pressing F8 at start up) and adjusting the display settings in Control Panel.

Thanks for your answer Taker. Yes, they are using the same monitor as we sold them the monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, speakers and printer - everything is exactly as we had it and we didn't have any problems. Although it was treated with kid gloves while being moved, I am hoping it has not 'disturbed' something inside the monitor?
is there a degauss button on monitor if so give it a try
A monitor will tend to go either blue or pink if the tube is going. Probably need a new monitor i'm afraid. the cost of repair would be about the same as the cost of the new one.
Maybe worth checking the cable plug and PC socket first. As the monitor cable has been unplugged and plugged back in recently it is possible that you have accidently bent one of the pins. A bent pin would potentially give the 'pink' effect. If this is the case it might be possible to carefully bend the the pin back in to position.

Thank you all for your replies. Unfortunately, none of the wiggling of wires has sorted the problem, so we are going to have to 'buy it back' and buy a monitor to sell the whole lot again! It is so annoying because it all worked when we sold it! Oh well, nevermind.
