hi last saturday at 1 am my garden was broken into( it was very secure locked )anyway some thugs broke in smashed my gate down and fled cos my hubby was chasing them they threatened him with a knife so he retreated but I got it on dvd but it's not too clear so I need a programme that will run the images slow or frame by frame and a capture ( i could use a digital camera 4 capture) I tried windows media but its not clear enough and I tried vlc but that wont slow please help my hubby nearly got stabbed there were 11- 15 of the cowards !

Was recommended The KMPlayer http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/index.php? at the weekend. Not had a chance to fully trial it, but it plays most stuff and you can pause (Space Bar) and frame-by-frame (F) and does frame captures. It's free and prettier than VDub as well as a bit more user-friendly (though VDub has functions it doesn't). You could tart up the stills in a photo program.

Unfortunately, a lot depends on the quality of the original footage - unless you work in one of the "CSI" labs, when you would be able to make out stubble at 50m from a picture taken with a Polaroid.
