Can anybody recommend a movie / dvd making software?

I currently use Ulead's DVD MovieFactory 5 but it's so slow and I constantly have problems with it, there are limited menus and settings to choose from plus I would like more option on the actual editing side of producing my movies (I use mainly mpeg and mov. file format movies. Any tips would be great - many thanks.
