please can you advise me where I can find an inexpensive vertically mounted dvd player? Or a regular dvd player that can be mounted on it's side?

they do them on the NEXT website. about �79.99

Personally I'd get a PS2, has a DVD drive and more than happy sitting on it's side. You can pick up second hand one for �25 or so on e-bay.

Looks good as well.
