Would someone please give me some info on binoculars for amateur astronomy .Have been looking on e-bay 10x25 with built in digital camera. Would appreciate any information on what to buy just for basic things such as planets and stars. Thanks

Thanks for reply .I did read that earlier but don't see any mention of 10x25 and this was why I was thinking they might not be suitable.thanks again.
25 is too small an aperture for astronomy. The larger the objective lens, the more light you will be able to receive.

ok thanks but can you suggest what size to go for.
I personally would go for 50mm objective lens, with a magnification of 10. To steady the viewing I would also invest in a tripod, as the higher the magnification, the narrower the field of view.

However, you could drop down to 40mm objective, and 8x magnification, though I'd still prefer to use a tripod with those.

I'd forget the itegrated digital camera, that is nothing more than a gimmick, and invest instead in a pair with good quality lenses (and a tripod mount adaptor).
