Has an industry standard been reached yet for dvd recorders please, i believe 2 or 3 formats are in use

No. D. - the dvd-rw is most popular but there's dvd-ram by panasonic n hitachi so what did they learn from the vhs/betamax war? - Nothing.

They learnt to use a standard physical representation. Most new good quality recorders are unaffected by this as they can record and read in all the formats.
