We had our tv connected to a freeview box which worked very well. We have just purchased a dvd recorder and tried to connect that up. Our problem is, when the dvd recorder scans the channels, it picks them all up but fails to find the freeview channel. We are unable to record anything from freeview. Does anyone have any suggestions for this un technologically minded simpleton please

Assuming you connected them with SCART leads, then, in order to record from the Freeview box, you need to select AV-In as the recording source on the DVD, rather than a channel. As you only have a single Freeview source, you will not be able to watch one Freeview channel while recording a different one.
I think the freeview box has to go directly into the back of the DVD recorder using a scart lead.

Then you use the DVD remote control to change the DVD recorder to another "channel" like AV1 or AV2 (this sets the DVD recorder to look at the input from the scart lead).

On my Panasonic I set it to "A2" but I guess your DVD recorder may be different.
