My friend wants Windows XP on her computer, but doesn't want to buy a disc. Is there any way I can transfer it from my computer to hers, or can she download it free from the net?/ Thanks

It will work until you are both on the Internet at the same time. The licence code gets checked every so often (automatically) and if the MS servers detect two (or more) computers on a single-user licence, it will lock them both up and you get a nice message on the screen telling you to purchase another licence.
Absolute Dross Zwanzig....even as we speak there are three computers on the net all running on the same version of XP which I use and got from someone else.....and we've never had a minutes bother in over a years useage.....all I would recommend is that when you are prompted to activate your version of windows (as you have to do within 30 days to keep it running) that you do only that and don't register it as well....failing that why not just go onto WinMX and download a copy plus a crack from there.....Just don't tell Mr. Gates I told you so.
I have an XP key change prog which enables you computer to "look legal". Not sure how to give you it though.
Just thought, I am a member of a friendly group who exchange files and chat etc. You could give us a try and I can give you this key change there. Go to http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/answerbok
