Mouse opens everything with one click

My mouse opens everything just from clicking on the item once. How do I switch this off? It doesn't seem to be under 'Mouse' or 'Accessibility' control panel options. I'm going ker-ay-zee! I just want my double-click back. Any ideas egg heads? Thanks!

open a window like 'My Docs, or something ...

at the top of the page, click Tools \ Folder Options ... what you're looking for is at the bottom
