Do Murder the Messenger

I was told that the simplest way to kill this so called 'middleware' on xp is to delete the folder in Program Files, which i did. Couldn't believe microshaft let that slip by but it worked for me.. pc seems to be fine and event viewer is clear but i wonder Have i done a silly?
