I have recently killed this virus off of 3 of my computers. To see if you have it, go to Start - Search - all files and folders then type in msblast.exe. then you'll know if you have it :o)
it searches for open ports on your computer via your internet connection. it uses a security flaw. and just so you know, there are a lot of security flaws in microsoft stuff. if you update it there are umpteen patches for various flaws.it doesnt always show up if you search for it, and most anti virus software cant see it, unless its the very latest. check your anti virus definitions. i installed windows xp the other day and got it within 2 minutes.
I followed the instruction from the previous question about how to get rid of it, and I got a message from Norton saying that it had found a virus and deleted it. But then the same virus started shutting down again. Can Norton be fooled into thinking that it has killed a virus which is still alive? What's the difference between a virus and a worm anyway?
Apologies Phantaxus - I read the question wrong. I thought you were asking how you "Catch" as in "find" it on your computer! Soz! Bernardo - Go to Symantec website for removal tool.
