I have had my lifebook for about 4yrs and had no problems untill now. The socket where the mains lead goes into has loosened and it keeps switching from mains to battery. Does anyone know if this is possible to have repaired and would it be expensive?

You can get it repaired, but its not cheap.I had the same problem with my laptop about 2 years ago.My little son knocked my laptop onto the floor and damaged the pin that the power cable attatches to.I took it to a local PC repair shop and was quoted 150 for repair because the whole Motherboard needed replacing. In the end I was lucky enough to get a brand new laptop under my houshold insurance, and I flogged my broken laptop on Ebay for spares and repairs for 150.So overall, I was much better off.
